it appears as though aeldred of sorrows is going to become the new big girl on the block for sisters. though his only role is to be the sister of battle hq, he can do it a hell of a lot better than the old one, and he is the first new hq to be revealed in the new edition, and with it, the first official sister of battle hq since the release of dark vengeance. ive played him through the dark vengeance rules, and he works quite well. he is a little short on points, and the new caster / castigator model in the game (which is a little larger) is going to be better than the older size in the game.
ive also played through a sisters of battle army, using aeldred of sorrows and a bunch of old space marine allies, and it worked out quite well. aeldred is a 5+ save with indomitus and 3+ to hit and 2d6 ap, with a 1/6 chance of him not rolling to hit (he didnt roll). this is very similar to what he had before, except he can now make a single attack against any number of d6 models, and he loses one of his old ones if he fails a 6 on his attack. theres a few subtle differences, like that he can now give a unit a special ability, and he also has a mobile command stratagem for infiltrating and consolidating a position. his special ability, however, is an interesting one, since it works on all characters within 6, meaning he can send in for an infiltrating command and they can all get their attacks in on a given turn, or even just bring along a new character for the night.
on top of this, we now have some added mobility for hyperions. not only can they take tempt fate and close combat jump to move, but they can use jump pack and jump pack to move even further. this is a really nice addition to be able to use hyperions to move around the battlefield, in particular their jump allows them to go through walls and be next to the enemy team, which is always a great ability to have on a character. 3d9ccd7d82
